Laughing Bear Batik clothes are hand painted and easy-wear, 100% natural cotton baby clothes, toddler clothes,

Recipe for a Batik Business

In the early 1970s Debra and Annie (friend) began by experimenting with dyes, wax, tools, and techniques, in a sunny backyard on the side of a mountain deep in the catskill mountains of new york.

Through the wonderful organic way that a business can grow, they were able to start with a simple inspiration. Both being artists, they experimented with their designs by painting them onto shirts in melted wax, and then dyed by hand.
" We were rendered breathless by the magic of seeing the animals and flowers we had drawn emerge on the brilliantly colored garments."

It was in this way that they began their cottage industry, and Laughing Bear Batik was born.

Debra has said "I love this life style because I can learn and create, and still be surround family and friends."
