FAQ
We hope that you will find the answer to your question on this page. If you don’t, or if you need further information, please don’t hesitate to, call, email, or fax us.
Q: My lamp is crooked or the parts are loose. How can I fix it?
A: JUA lamps are made in the traditional way without using glue. As a result, the bases do require tightening from time to time (sometimes even after a bumpy UPS ride upon arrival). To do this, remove the shade. Hold the socket firmly in place (to prevent the wires from spinning inside the socket) while using pliers to tighten the nut under the base. If the lamp is a floor lamp, it is often easier to have someone else hold the socket while you tighten the nut. The final position of the pull chain should be due right of the stem with the harp lined up to the front and back.
If your lamp is crooked after you have tightened it, stabilize the base by pressing down on it with one hand. With your other hand, firmly grip the lower section of the harp and the socket and slowly press the stem in the direction you want to move it. For a floor lamp, put a cloth over the base and use both feet to hold the base steady while straightening the stem.
Q: My order arrived damaged. What should I do?
A: Keep all of your original packaging

and call us right away. We will ask you the nature of the damage, request the tracking number for the package, and guide you through the return and replacement process.
Q: We had an accident, and the shade was broken or damaged. Can it be replaced?
A: Yes. You can always order a replacement shade. If it was one of our older designs, it may now be discontinued or unavailable. Some recently discontinued graphics are available with an up charge (Up charges vary. Please inquire). Please keep as much of the damaged shade as possible, since shards are often helpful in identifying a specific style or graphic. In order to aid us in matching/reproducing your shade as closely as possible, we may ask you to send a remaining piece back to us. When you get in touch with us, we will help you to identify the shade and let you know what your replacement options are. You are always welcome to order a shade from our current collection.
Q: Can I order a discontinued graphic?
A: It depends on how long ago the graphic was discontinued. Graphics remain available at an up charge for several years after being dropped from the product line. However, very old graphics are not available at all. Call for information on the specific shade design you are interested in.

Q: Can a parchment graphic be ordered on a ceramic shade or vice versa?
A: In most cases, yes. This is considered custom work, and an order confirmation sheet is required. The cost depends on the specific graphic.
Q: The ceramic shade of my double-socket lamp was broken. Can I replace it with a parchment shade?
A: No, the double socket provides too much wattage for use with a parchment shade. However, if you would like to ship your lamp base to us, we would be happy to rewire it with a single socket for use with a parchment shade. The cost for rewiring is $35.00.
Q: Can I purchase a shade only?
A: Yes! You may choose from any of our current parchment or ceramic shade designs. Please note wattage limitations on the “ At a Glance” shade ordering charts
Q: Can I change the color palette of a shade design to match my décor?
A: Yes! We can swap a color in a shade graphic with another color from the line, or match your specific color needs based on fabric swatches, paint chips, or tiles. Please contact us for more information and individual price quotes.
Q: Can I request a different color for the base of my lamp?
A: Yes. Each shade graphic has a pre-selected base color in slate, marble

or the Sienna line. However, if
you would prefer a different color for your base, this change can be made. Call for pricing.
Q: The lamp I am interested in is only offered with a copper stem. Can I order it with an aluminum or olive washed stem instead?
A: Yes, with some restrictions. Please call us for information on the specific model you are interested in.
Q: Can I raise or lower the height of a lamp?
A: Yes, with some restrictions. Please call us for information on the specific model you are interested in (usual charge $35).
Q: The copper stem of one of the lamps has fingerprints on it. How do I polish it?
A: With time, copper tarnishes to create a beautiful aged patina. To ensure even tarnishing, use a dry, green “Scotch Brite “ pad (vertical direction only) to lighten, polish, or remove scratches and fingerprints.
Q: I have a lamp with a dimmer switch that has stopped working. Can it be repaired or replaced?
A: Yes. In most cases, replacing the fuse, which is available for $3.00, solves the problem. If the switch still does not work, you may ship the lamp to Janna Ugone so that we can replace it. Please call SweetHeart Gallery for specific pricing.
