Artist Potter Norman Bacon, Raku Works From His Personal Collection

After his thirty-year career-making art pottery and sculpture starting in 1970, his life took a radical change moving on to other creative adventures.
Norman Bacon's raku art pottery is a mixture of spontaneity and control, perfection and imperfection. Each piece he created is a unique, artistic expression, bringing clay, fire, water, and air together. Norman started his career in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the late sixties. His work with the raku process began in 1979. The Raku process consists of rapid firing and cooling. With his mastery of the material and the process, he transforms clay objects into natural works of art. The resulting piece has colors and textures that cannot be duplicated.
