Andy Brinkley: Artisan of Brass and Copper Art

Andy Brinkley has dedicated more than 30 years to the art of metalwork. Beginning his career as a blacksmith, Andy gradually expanded his expertise to include various metals, eventually focusing on the distinctive qualities of brass and copper. What began in a modest basement workshop has become a full-time studio set amid the serene woodlands of the North Carolina Appalachian foothills. Andy works with master craftsman Mark Shrum and Suzanne Shrum.
Andy’s deep appreciation for nature is woven into every aspect of his life and work. Whether he’s sculpting at his bench or tending his gardens, the influence of the surrounding environment is unmistakable. Much of his artistic inspiration is drawn from the native flora of forests and marshlands, which often take center stage in his designs.
Over the years, Andy’s craftsmanship has attracted a diverse clientele, including prominent names such as McDonald’s, Dupont, Wachovia, Georgia-Pacific, Boone Dermatology, and the North Carolina Western Governor’s Mansion.
