The Cosmic Clay Process and Louis and Christine Colombarini

Louis and Christine Colombarini Cosmic Clay Studio

"Our Cosmic Clay journey began nearly 40 years ago as we collaborated in the creation of art clay vessels. Bringing the simplicity of clay to life with perfect form, texture, and color has been an ongoing challenge. As skilled artists, designers, potters, sculptors, and chemists, we strive for excellence and celebrate the success of an aesthetically-pleasing ceramic piece. Over the years we have taken our audience down visual avenues of classical, abstract, deco, and futuristic design. Currently, we are involved with two separate and highly-specialized techniques focusing on “Neo-Primitive” firing."

Christine was born in Manitowoc, WI, and always knew she’d become an artist. She moved to Florida and earned her B.F.A. degree in Ceramics at Florida Atlantic University - Boca Raton (FAU). On-campus in the clay studio, Christine met her lifelong partner Louis. He was born in Queens, NY, and graduated with a B.A. degree from The State University of New York - Geneseo. Louis relocated to Ft. Lauderdale where he was a firefighter for five years and continued studies in ceramics at FAU.

Upon Christine’s graduation, the couple’s similar interests in clay and country living brought them to the enchanting hills of Tennessee. Over the past 40 years, the Colombarinis have shared a loving home and studio, creating countless works of clay art. Their mutual passion for ceramics has taken the couple to over 500 juried art shows and exhibitions with the distinction of winning numerous awards.
