About Crain Pottery Art Studio

Hand-built Art Pottery and Ceramic Animal Sculptures

Crain Art Studio is a family affair consisting of two generations of women: Cathy (Mom), & Carie (Daughter). After retiring from a life involved in advertising, jewelry design and fashion, Cathy moved back to Texas to be near the rest of her family. On a whim, she decided to take a ceramics class at the local community college and loved it! In fact, she enjoyed it so much she encouraged Carie, who had been her partner in fashion and jewelry design, to take the class as well. After a few years of working and creating in their individual studios, Crain Art Studio was born. Their work reflects their fascination with color and texture and a love of animals.

Cathy and Carie Crain are mother and daughter who combine their talents in clay and mixed media. "Cathy has been an artist since she was old enough to hold a crayon and draw on walls." While her children were growing up she owned her own advertising and graphic arts firm. She then started creating jewelry and garments. Eventually, her daughter Carie joined her in her business.

On a whim, she decided to explore ceramics and after a few years, she and her daughter created Crain Art Studio. Their work reflects their love of animals and passion for color and texture.
