About Ellen Sue Gordon

Color has been the driving force of Ellen Sue Gordon's creative life since childhood, when she was already making wearables and wall hangings in New York City's Greenwich Village by age ten. Deepening her craft through wool spinning, weaving, and natural dyeing classes at The Craft Students League, she went on to explore color across quilting, embroidery, macramé, wool felting, and fabric marbling. Today, she channels that passion into sculptural textile necklaces: bold, spiraling forms built from richly colored grosgrain ribbon, often incorporating natural materials like wood and stone, with asymmetry for dramatic effect. Color is always the starting point, drawn from the world around her, whether a seagull glimpsed in Norway or a sun-washed gift shop in New Mexico. The result is work that is, in the best possible way, fun, pretty, and different.
