Collection: Mike Newins, North Carolina Craftsperson and Interdisciplinary Designer

Mike Newins (he/they) is a craftsperson and interdisciplinary designer based in
North Carolina. Through their studio, Make Nice, Newins creates furniture,
objects, and spaces that balance precision with instinct, the soft with the severe.

Working primarily in wood and stone, they combine historical craft techniques with
contemporary design thinking to transform humble materials into one-of-a-kind
pieces. Each project is a negotiation between material constraints and creative
intention; it is part problem-solving, part storytelling. Their approach is hands-on,
intuitive, and rooted in a respect for material life cycles.

Newins operates as values-driven studio, prioritizing sustainability, ethical
sourcing, and close client collaboration. Newins’ work has been featured in Dwell,
Sight Unseen, Design Milk, Interior Design Magazine, and Wallpaper.
